Existence of Allah in Ihya Ulumuddin

 

Ihya Ulumuddin is a classical work of Islamic spirituality and ethics written by Al-Ghazali. In this book, Al-Ghazali highlights the importance of the belief in the existence of Allah and provides arguments and evidence to support this belief.

According to Al-Ghazali, the existence of Allah can be proved through both reason and revelation. The argument from reason, also known as the cosmological argument, states that the universe must have a cause and that cause must be Allah. These attributes cannot be attributed to any created being, thus pointing towards the existence of a necessary being, Allah.
